So i was at the gym tonight, doing dead-lifts. Had about 305 on, doing a set of 8 reps, felt pretty good. Then i felt my hamstring pop!!! Its the first time i have done this. It doesnt feel like its that bad, but deff know its there. Feels like a really bad crap that wont go away.

Hey bro. Make sure ya dont go black and blue or maybe you might have a small tear or such. I would just ice the crap out of it for 48+ hrs then switch to heat for another 72+ hrs. Keep stretching it very slowly over a period of 7-9 days. After that hopefully you should be back to normal. I used to run sprints and was a running back so hammys were always a major pain when they pulled. Hope ya rehab quickly!!

Ouch! I agree with catadrioptic, the ice and heat will really help, and the slow stretching too. Just try not to put it to use for a little while, it should take about two weeks to get better.

Ice it for 15 to 20 minutes every couple of hours. Forget the biofreeze, it won't do the job that the ice will. Also recommend you do some very light pumping exercises every couple of hours between the applications of ice to get the blood flowing to the injured muscle. This can increase recovery time over ice and rest alone.
