Anyone else battling the flu this season? I have been getting my ass kicked by it for the last 4 days. I am in training for a stair climb race and haven't been able to do any exercise all week long. This shit sucks...

It seems that the vaccine was not as effective as it should have been and that there is a severe outbreak going on right now.

I think everyone has been sick this season but me. I've notice a increase in the amount of flu's, so I increased the amount of vitamin C. We will see how long that will last.

i had it back in january and it was only the 2nd time in my life a had it. i went to bed on a sunday night felling perfect but woke up dizzy and lightheaded. i was getting out of bed and my fiance touched my stomach and said i felt like i was on fire. i started walking downstairs and made it about halfway down then had to run for the bathroom for my first of about 10 vomits for the day. it was horrible, i had a 104 degree fever and felt like shit. it lasted a week but after the 2nd day i was able to go about my daily routin even though i wasnt 100%. i try to consume a ton of water and vitamin c when im sick. obviously that didnt work the 1st day because whatever went down came back up. i will definatly be getting my flu shot every october for the rest of my life because i never want to feel that way again

Unfortunately this year the flu is everywhere, yuck! I would not bother with the flu shot, studies show that it only seems to be making matters worse. However, I hear that "Cold FX" works great to boost the immune system!

Though it is not able to "make matters worse" since it is an inactivated virus (the vaccine contains dead, non-pathogenic virus and the body mounts an immune response due to the "spikes" located on the capsule of the virus ), the CDC was somewhat incorrect in their decisions about which strains of the influenza virus would be prevalent this year. As a result, many people will get the flu despite getting a flu shot because they will be exposed to a strain that was not covered in the vaccine. As many of us know, this happens occaisonally and we are actually long overdue for this mistake!

I have been pretty blessed this year!!! I haven't got sick yet of any sort, but almost everyone I know is getting sick...

The problem, like 23Xtense said, is that there are numerous strains of flu but the vaccine only immunizes for a couple of strains. These are the ones that the CDC foresees being a problem this year. So taking the vaccine only gives you about a 15% chance that you won't get the flu. Best way to prevent getting the flu is to wash your hands every time your around sick people or just stay away if possible.
