First of all a little about myself been a vip since 2006, never hardly post, need some advice. I'm 5'10 255 lbs my max bench was 515 , squat is 765 that is below paralel , 705 deadlift. Anyhow i pretty much workout for strength. 3 days ago i was bench pressing not a whole lot of weight 315 , was on my 6th rep on the way down about 5 inches from touching my chest i heard the most awful tearing noise and my arm went dead dropping the weight, i could not move my left arm at all , went to the orthapedic surgeon the next day , he determined i had tore my pectoral muscle and scheduled me an appointment for an MRI, I asked him what were my options . Doc proceeded to tell me if i did not get surgery i might be half as strong as i was , if i got the surgery i could expect to make a full recovery in 6-8 months. Has anyone else torn they're pec and did you have surgery? It has been 3 days since the injury my left side of my chest is twice as large as my right , my upper arm is bruised from my bicep to my armpit, and starting to see bruising on my chest, also have a dimple just above my armpit that was not there.Depressed to say the least, i should have heen taking HGH, Can HGH help in the healing process? Anyone who has had a similar injury would like to hear your story, or if you have knowledge or advice . How did you get through your injury mentally, were you able to train any body parts? Need your help! have decided to take pics and post before and after maybe they can help someone else.

Get the surgery. Get on a high dose GH, IGF-1 & AAS regimen and you can cut your recuperation time by 2 thirds.

I can help you devise exactly how to do this if you would like.

Get it fixed and then rest rest rest until you are 100% sure you are good to go again. I screwed mine up once and it put me out of the gym for six months and it doesn't sound as bad as yours. Get it fixed. Your pretty much srcewed either way as far as the gym goes for a while, so it might as well get fixed correctly.

Take Care,

First of all you need to stay positive about dealing with this. There's not a whole lot you can do to make it go away so deal with it head-on. Whether you have surgery, or not, that pec is never going to be as strong as it once was.

Second, try to locate a doctor who has worked with athletes and get a second opinion. No matter which way you go you are in for a long rehab period. It can take over a year for pecs to rehabilitate.

I had surgery on my chest where my pec had to be cut and the docs told me I'd be good to go lifting after 3 months. I waited 4 and started lifting but maybe tried to do too much too fast and felt my pec muscle actually rip. It hurt quite a bit and couldn't put any weight on it at all. They did another surgery and had to remove part of the muscle and put in a mesh implant. This was almost a year ago. I've been lifting on it again for two months now and I'm making slow progress and can definitely tell it'll never be what it once was. Absolutely nothing I can do about it, so had to change my plans and goals, but no big deal.

In my case maybe it was a good thing. I was benching too much for my joints and ripped the tendons and ligaments in my right wrist and the barbell pushed my wrist through the ends of my ulnar and radius spreading them apart. Docs sewed up the ripped stuff but wanted to drill holes along both forearm bones and lace them together with nylon -- no friggin way was I going to let that happen. Found a smart specialist who said it was a crazy idea and that if I kept lifting I couldn't damage it any further, just have to put mind over matter in dealing with the pain. Know what? I don't get pain in my wrist any longer when I lift.

Hate to tell you this Bro, but most likely you'll have to come to terms with changing your goals, but you'll still be able to lift, but if you rush it you may do more serious damage.

That's odd. I've got a dead spot in exactly the same location since surgery. Hair won't even grow back there.

Sorry bro! I torn mine feb 1st 2006 benching 500..I know all about this.

first off get many opinions and go to an ATHELETS doctor/surgeon.

My doc, physical therapist, and another doctor all told me if I wasnt going to compete to not get the surgery, so I didnt. I tore my muscle off the tendon, but the tendon stayed attached! They said that was impossible to fix...come to find out it isnt! I still may check into getting it fixed down the rd.

Instead I took six months totally off the gym. Worked my way back up from the bar to now being able to rep 275 for 10 reps. I dont see myself ever going back to where I was. My left pec is all jacked up and pulls to my sternum..looks crazy! But hey, I can still lift...just not as crazy as before!

when mine tore I heard no snap....just felt it give out and it started to spasm like a mother fucker! Looked SICK! Than I got bruised all the way to my wrist with blood....armit, pec, belly, side, and arm was pitch black!

If I had any suggestion itd be to go to an atheletes doctor and have it fixed asap! Atleast it will look normal...ever if your strength doesnt come back all the way!

GOOD LUCK!
