I did chest earlier and not sure it's related but I have some pain where my heart is ... maybe it's just stress (going through rough times, getting less sleep, working long hours). When I put my finger on my left breast, it hurts more ... Do you think that I should see a doc about it?

I DOUBT IT.

ITS MOST LIKELY A THROBBING PAIN THAT IS IN THE MUSCLE AND THATS WHY IT HURTS WHEN YOU PRESS ON IT.

THINK ABOUT IT FOR A SECOND:

IF IT WHERE RELATED TO YOUR HEART (AN ORGAN UNDERNEATH YOUR RIBCAGE) THEN PRESSING ON THE LEFT PECTORAL MUSCLE WOULD HAVE NO BEARING ON INCREASING PAIN IN THE HEART MUSCLE.

I had something similar and I freaked out and went to the doc, they did a full EKG and everything was normal. They told me I was having panic attacks. It went away about two weeks after that and it never returned so I thought nothing of it.

I think you are fine, if it were heart related there would be other symptoms aswell and it would not hurt to touch. (you would have nausea, pain in your left arm and shoulder, and also possibly back pain)...

if it worries you too much, get it checked out.

I think you were right, Thinkbig. The pain is gone. What I do have sometimes is irregular heartbeats but the doc told me that they are stress induced and he gave me Inderal Retard.

I'll call the doc for a check up (blood work and everything) next week. It's something I haven't done in a year and it's about time I have one.

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA, JUST TO BE SURE.

better safe then sorry Ms Vin. I have to agree with Thinkbig though...really think it's stress related as I know you've gone through a lot this past few months.

Oh..and other sides...radiating pain in either one or both arms. And can be plain and simple jaw pain or what appears to be indigestion. We've had some patience come in with mild discomfort and find them in full blown MI (myocardial infarction or heart attack..sorry if you already knew this.)

Good info. Any1uno. Also, they may feel pressure, like "someone is sitting on their chest." Vin, I have had similar pain in my left pec before that has left me with some of the same thoughts as you. I'd push on it and could make it hurt more, making me know I was touching the problem and it was not under ribcage. The pain has always gone away quickly. I think your response of further questioning is natural.

Take care,
Kawbiker

There is the type of pain NO Doctor can heal Vin...you have undergone a tremendous loss and you are probably hurting so much, you feel your heart is aching.
I too have had this intense feeling in the past, for me however it has been women related sad.gif

Chest pain in one spot is ususaly non-cardiac related(i work in the cardiology field-echo-tech),especially when you mentioned you pressing on it and it hurt.

Hi muscledoc, could you please elaborate a little on what other potential causes there may be?

Thank you

I know, B2J and I'm glad you were by my side through those difficult times. Stress is bad and it gives arrhythmias. These irregular heartbeats can be controlled by Inderal Retard and there is nothing wrong with them (so says the doc anyway).

I'm sad to read about women giving you a hard time, B2J. I'm always around if you need me smile.gif
