I just went to see a surgen the other day about my shoulder. It turns out that they are fairly certain that i have a severe tear in my shoulder.I beleive they called it the labrium I think.Any how for along time my shoulder has been sore as hell. And because of that training stopped awhile ago.Every time that i move my arm it snap crackels and pops, also a few loud thuds in there to.He explained that basicly because of that tear my shoulder is seperateing.Cool huh.Anyway has anyone had this before? How long was the recovery? Was it a full recovery? How much strength did you loose?Im just worried on how long it will take to recover. The doctor also said that he sees this injury in alot of AAS users.I have to go in for a MRarthur next week.I guess its better than a standard MRI.Anyway some input would be good.Cause im nervous as hell.

Don't be nervous, it'll be ok. You will most likely have to take a substantial amount of time off from the gym, but that's to be expected. These things can take a little longer to heal than others, as they are the joints, which are mobile.

Your muscle memory should keep you afloat until you go back, you will lose strength, (more so in that arm obviously) but you will be able to bounce back in a while, just be SURE to let it heal completely.

Good luck!

A lady I work with has had rotator cuff surgery to rapair hers. She is happy that she has done this. She was doing rehab within a month and is back better then ever. Of course this will vary with each individual so be patient with yourself and do as your therapist instructs you to do. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much better you feel.

depending on the injury it may be solved with some simple rotator rehab exercises. have you given them a try Cowboytroy?

Tore both of them, 1 year apart.

For me it was 3 weeks in a sling while the surgery (arthroscopic) healed. It was 3 months before I was let back into the gym...ONLY to do abs and cardio. About a month later I was allowed by the surgeon to do LIGHT weights, NO legs...the doc's take was too much pulling on the shoulder to stabilize while pushing/pulling with the legs. About a month after that I was doing heavier weight but nothing to write home about. ANY bicep work hurt like a mofo, the attachment was very close to the surgical site, took months after that before I was able to do any respectable weight.

Sleeping was a bear, I couldn't lie on my bed because of the downward pulling on the site, especially trying to get out of bed. Forget about rolling over on it...The doc recommended sleeping on a recliner because of the total support on the back and shoulder...I had one and he was right. Wit the vic's and percocets I was sleeping like a baby but once off them the pain would keep me up...so I whined to the surgeon and he wrote me another script for both... biggrin.gif

While training with some decent weight my shoulder(s) would ache, they'd let me know I was doing some work. I used Cissus and Naproxen (Aleve) to knock down the pain

Was it worth it? YES

Got any questions in particular, shoot me a PM

you will be fine bro. tore my rotator cuff 3 yrs ago. was warming up with bumbells the third set i came down and heard a tearing sound right through the skin. dropped weights on my chest got up tried to lift me right arm couldn't do it. dam it hurt. got it fixed six weeks in a sling six more weeks not using it. then started out slow. it was funny cause a 5lb db was heavy. got throught it and moved on. the biggest thing is doing the physical therapy after the surgery. it dont take much for it to freeze up. you will make it back.

I have a friend at work who just had a similar problem operated on. It took her about 3 months before back to normal, but is feeling better than ever in all aspects. Feels better and stronger. Definitely let it heeal completely. You'll be fine with this one.

Take care,
Kawbiker

I worried about being able to lift heavy afterwards though. How long do think it will be till i may be able to do big lifts again.I was talking to someone the other day about the surgery he got on his shoulder, and he was telling me that he was never able to lift heavy again.I gotta get it done though cause it seems to be getting worse.I guess i will have to find this stuff out for myself

good luck bro i hope it goes well ... i've had incesant problems with my shoulders but thankfully they have been moderate enough to work around as opposed to requiring surgery as in your case ... just listen to the surgeon and you'll be sweet in the end

Try some deep tissue massage with heat Mr S. You may have a small tear. Keep an eye on it. You can switch between ice and heat packs to help it heal up..but that is normally for strains...may help though. Oh..and I'm not a doctor so please do not take this as a treatment plan. If it continues to hurt see a doctor.
