Well two months ago I was benching and tore my pec. I warmed up at 225, then 275 both for sets of 10. THen put on 315 for my first working set. On the very first rep on it's way up she went. It was gross, thats all I can really say. My training partner said that I screamed, but I don't even remember that. I just remember the feeling of it happening, and then feeling like I wanted to puke after. It took a month to find an orthopedic that would do it. The surgery took 4 hours, and the tendon was a complete rupture right off the bone. The whole sternal head was gone. It's been almost 5 weeks since my surgery and it feels pretty good. I do have 4 revets holding the tendon to my humerus though. My question is this, how long should leave it alone. The surgeon said that I should not even move it for another 2 weeks, and then start a p.t. program. If I do what they want me too, I will not be in the gym for probably 6 months. Anyone had the same experience as I? Just wondering how long to wait.

I would do what ever the Doc said to insure your pec from not tearing again. Sounds like that was a bad deal bro. I would stay away from the gym for aleaat that long, you want the fucker to heal right the first time.
My buddy Tore his biceps and that was crazy looking he was out of the gym for awhile but you gotta do whatever it takes. He has said his arm still doesnt feel %100 and he is alway worring about it in the gym. So take it easy dude.

IMO if you get on the right hormones it will help a lot in healing. Ideally you would have done this right after surgery though.

I would follow the doctor's advice. Grunt makes a good arguement for the right supps and it probably isn't too late to start them.
With a tear like this you will need sometime to heal up. Follow the PT's advice to the letter. You will be happy you did.

Do what the doctor says!!! Once these things are fixed, to wreck it again can cause serious shit, and is never as easy to fix again. You really don't want to screw it permanently. Just wait for the gym, and ease back in slowly...sorry to hear that happened!

If it took you 5 weeks to find someone to fix it then if you mess up his work then he probably aint going to re-fix it. But if you pull one of the "revets" out of your humerus before it properly heals then your going to have a fucking mess. Your bone has to heal just like your muscle. It takes a good 6 weeks for the bone to regenerate. If I was you I would do exactly what the doctor says. With good rehab and muscle memory you can be back to almost normal within a year, but if you fuck it up, you might never be back.

Given my history with injuries, surgery, and recovery (3 shoulder injuries and 1 ruptured bicep tendon) by all means listen to your doc, do all the PT, and take your time hitting it hard again. I had to have my third shoulder op because I rushed back in. I did use hormones to assist, but I should have take all of the doctors advice meaning proper recovery time and PT. Even with the best supplements and hormones the body needs time to repair and reset. You will be surprised at how your body will respond to the PT as your nervous system will have to adjust. You will be back to where you were quick enough. If you re-injure it you may do permanent damage that you may not be able to recover 100% from. When it is time to hit is hard again your body will give you all the sign. Just be sure to listen carefully even if it tells what you don't want to hear.
