New York celebs pushing for LeBron
By Mark J. Miller
LeBron JamesEarlier this week, everyday New Yorkers filled up a moving truck parked in front of Madison Square Garden with knick knacks to give LeBron James(notes) in hopes of convincing him to come to New York this offseason.
Now, big-time celebrities are stepping in to woo King James since the New York Knicks aren't allowed to say word one to him till the free-agency window opens July 1, the New York Post reported.
"We are in the process of assembling a committee of friends of the Knicks who are many of the city's most successful winners and leaders [and] who have thrived in the world's greatest city," said a Knicks spokesman to the paper. "The enthusiastic response we have received from so many people wanting to help has been overwhelming and we look forward to working with this committee in various ways to show free agents that there is no better place to play and to win than in the world's most famous arena and in New York City."
Donald Trump, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Boomer Esiason and Spike Lee have joined the committee, the Post said.
The committee is also expected to include Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, Phil Simms, Mark Messier, John McEnroe, talk-show host Charlie Rose, "The Big Idea" host Donny Deutsch, and Whoopi Goldberg.
You don't say no to Whoopi.

I believe that all of these moves are in part due to him...I think they will try and sign one of the big name free agents to keep him...

The committee includes Donald Trump, Spike Lee, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Boomer Esiason and Chris Rock, according to the New York Post.

"New York would be a great thing for LeBron," Trump told the Post. "He would take over the city ... I can tell you, LeBron, there is only one New York."
Rock also has his pitch all set: "You really want to live in Cleveland? That's what I would tell him. Where do you want to live?"
Knicks spokesman Barry Watkins confirmed the team's desire to have some of the celebrities meet with free agents and take them out on the town. "We are in the process of assembling a committee of friends of the Knicks who are many of the city's most successful winners and leaders [and] who have thrived in the world's greatest city," Watkins told the Post.

OK we all know I'm a die hard "knicks" fan but I believe all Lebron can do for the knicks is fill the seats. He needs much more help then I believe new york is willing to give. Don't get me wrong I like Lebron I just don't see him doing to much without another key player that New York doesnt have. I guess all in all the Knicks would win more games then they have in the last 3 years but no play offs. LOL. If its a money thing then he would sign with the Nets, if I'm not mistaken I believe they offered him part ownership of the team if he signs with them. He will drag this out to the very end. At the end of the day he will resign with the Cavs.

Oh ya as far as Phil goes I believe if the Lakers win he will resign with them. He is just taking alot of shit to see what offers he can get. He does go to where the money is!!!! But won't you? My 2 cents
