Why Indict Poker Stars?
Any article written about online gambling over the past couple years has seemed to indicate that poker the most likely to be regulated in the US as it had the least opposition as compared to Sports and Casino. So why would a game that many argue involves an element of skill (and as such could be argued to be the most legal) be targeted by the DOJ leading to the Poker Stars indictments? Why wouldn't the DOJ indict a sportsbook or online casino? The reason many believe has to do with the exact fact that poker is more likely to be regulated in the US. With Poker Stars being indicted, it will make it much easier for the eventual regulated and licensed online poker rooms to get into the market. It really shows how much lobbying power some of the big casino groups have.

It's surely a sad day, but I do hope that properly licensed and regulated online casinos will be fairer and more honest as there are so many shysters out there

All them online poker sites are scams. I quit playing online last year. Got fed up with the b/s on those sites. Especially the bad beats. Your playing with others, but also playing with alot of computer generated people. Its all a racket, and I hope they close them places down for good.

As these sites are offshore there's no oversight of them to keep them honest, so yes you are taking risks if you play on these sites. So until these sites are willing to come under US scrutiny and oversight they should NOT be allowed to accept US players.

I have tons of horror stories, and not just from me, from a few friends as well. I mean how often are you going to get beat with a flush or full house? The odds are pretty much slim to none, but it happens to me and my friends all the time. Ridiculous.. I remember I was in a tournament, think it was a $40 buy in. 1000+ people playing. Long story short, first hand Im dealt AA. I slow play em, and I get 2 callers. Both them bump it up, and finally I go all in, and the other 2 follow. You can only guess what happens next. The 2 others have QQ & KK respectively.. QQ pulls a Q on the river.. b/s, and im out $40 and out of the tourney with a nice top prize.. sad.gif I checked back in the room after I lost, and a few dozen or so people were out first hand. Im sure the same thing happened to them too.

Ya it sucks. My brother had the same situation but with $1765 on the line. It's hard to trust these games.

Sounds to me like the US feels they can not monitor the revenue effectively enough. So, they'll tear it down and rebuild it with a more efficient system?
Land-based Casino's such as Corporate Vas Vegas is a Huge revenue source for the feds, as oposed to Indian Reservation casinos and online games. They probably feel they're missing out?

Peace,
