As if Terrell Owens wasn't going to have enough trouble finding a team to pay him this season, now the aging wide receiver appears to be carrying with him a healing knee. Owens had surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee within the past month, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports.
One of Mort's sources says Owens, 37, tore his knee while taping a show for VH1. Amazingly, The T.O. Show is set to return in August. For Owens' sake, let's hope whatever it was that he was taping is better than The T.Ocho Show, because his football career could be in jeopardy.
It usually takes six months to a year to recover from ACL surgery. In a best-case scenario, T.O. would be ready to play by the middle of this upcoming season.
Would anyone really invest in a loquacious, controversial receiver who may or may not still be able to play coming off major surgery? Even before the injury, the pool of teams interested in Owens was thin because of the bridges he's burned (Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Baltimore, Cincinnati) throughout his career.
What Owens does have going for him is that he's a notorious quick healer—he returned from a fractured fibula to play in Super Bowl XXXIX—and his work ethic is unquestioned. He's also been productive, even into his late 30's. T.O. caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns last season in 14 games for a Bengals team that couldn't throw the ball.
The news that he tore his knee weeks (or months) ago comes as a surprise. Owens, never known to be at a loss for words, kept the apparent injury quiet for quite some time. Despite incessant tweeting, he never mentioned his knee. He did, however, post a picture dated June 14 that shows a nasty scar on his left knee.
T.O.

With this injury, I'd say he is about finished.

Heard about this story. His agent said he will be ready for new season, will see. Also heard reports he wont be totally healed till like November. Shit, the season is half way over by then. Im sure someone will pick him up. He is still very good.

I can think of a couple of teams that can use a good w/r....T.O. may have to settle for a paycut however.
